The parts needed are shown on the previous page, hopefully this page will help you understand the construction.

The quantity required will vary depending on the total length of handrail needed. From the insert picture shown you will see that the spindles are fixed to two fillet strips (better explained on the fillet strip page itself). The handrail then covers these strips.

Every 2.4m a newel post is either bolted to the joists or set into the ground, this provides the main foundation of the handrail. The handrail, fillet strip and spindles are then set in-between these newel posts.

It is usual practice that each spindle has a gap no bigger than 100mm. This will vary dependant on the style of spindle better explained on the significant spindle page.
